This month, I decided to go to Kowloon City. As diverse as Hong Kong gets, Kowloon City is. This region, which takes up the eastern half of the Kowloon peninsula, is home to historical sites, lush suburban enclaves, historic neighborhoods, and the former Kai Tak Airport, which is currently being transformed into a recreational hub.

Streets that are home to some of Hong Kong's most vibrant cultural communities can be found in between. Little Thailand is a great place to find locally grown Southeast Asian herbs, fruits, spices, and mouthwateringly hot food. Moreover, there is a sizable Chiu Chow population, who may trace their ancestry to eastern Guangdong. In some instances, the traditions of the Chiu Chow and Thai people have converged to produce something fascinating and distinctive.
